People like choices. If you give customers/visitors options when asking them to sign up for your newsletter or email list, then you will receive more subscribers. For example, if you have a technology blog, then give the option of signing up for separate emails about SEO, ppc advertising and more. Your list will segment itself, making it more responsive and easier to manage.
Hold an Event
It is easy to collect email addresses if you hold an event and require people to register with their email address. This does not even have to be an in-person event. You can host a Facebook Live question and answer session, a new product launch or other online presentation of interest to your customers. Once you have these highly targeted email addresses, then they are yours to use in your email list.
Ask Your Social Media Followers to Sign Up
If you have a strong social media presence, then ask your followers to sign up for your email list. Offer them an incentive – a new report or a discount coupon – and explain the benefits of joining your list (they will still get the inside scoop even if they miss a tweet or they will receive inside information not found in your posts, etc). Many people will not sign up, but enough will to make asking worthwhile.
Put Your Sign Up Link Everywhere
Some websites only place their sign up form on their homepage. Yet not everyone enters a website through the homepage. So make sure that your form is in a prominent position on every page. You can also create a special sign up page and advertise it in your promotional materials, on your YouTube page and on your social media pages. The more places your sign up form is, the more people will see it and subscribe.
